Happy Wednesday! Before I get into my non-traditional synopsis, I thought I would add a special something today...

"Out of the Mouth of Babes:"

My daughter and I had our usual Wednesday morning OTH recap on the way to school this morning and she shared some insight that I completely overlooked. (She sees the sensitive where I see the sarcasm... don't ask me how that got into her gene pool!) Anyway, here are some of her thoughts:

1. "Felix can't be all bad, right?" She pointed out that the thing she liked about Felix so far was how nice he was with his sister. Anyone who gets along well with their sister is good in her book. (Of course, being an only child, she has sibling envy, but whatever.) She also pointed out that she felt sorry for them having to move so much, but she bet their parents bought them lots of stuff to make up for it. (Oh greed show thy face!)
2. "Lucas was wearing Brooke's bra!" She pointed out that the bra being returned was the same one that they bought last week. (I don't know, though, he returned it in the mall and it was NOT bought there. Guess I will have to go back and compare.)
3. "I like Lucas being funny." Dear Dear daughter of mine. What is it going to take for you to drop this silly CMM crush? That was not 'funny Lucass', that was 'still-annoying-me Lucass!' And by the way, if you ever make out with a stranger in a photo booth - I will find you and severe pain will not be far behind. MOMS find out EVERYTHING!!!
4. "I like big butts and I cannot lie" Ashley, I don't know which song I want you singing in the halls of junior high... this one or the one you were yesterday---> Chemical Party! Note to self: great time to discuss drugs/alcohol again with off spring!
5. "Why are they making Nathan look like a big dummy?" My thoughts exactly. Nice legs or not... that was just bothersome. Funny Nathan is cute. Humiliating Nathan is just sad!

And with that said... the wisdom of a 13 year old... Here's what I have to add (not a lot!):

Andy/Karen- I don't think Andy is "hot" but I do love the character. My advice to Karen, "You go girl!"

"Dare You To Move"- everyone has touched this. I just have to say that as a Shane West/Landon Carter fan, I feel like it has been tainted by the presence of Lucas while it played. When I hear that song I feel rosey and happy and remember good times. Now I will be forever seeking a method of erasing a visual of CMM when I hear it.

The Brothers Scott- Awe, everyone's lockers are all in a row! Nathan gave a little nod and "What's up?" to Lucas. I love happy brothers. Question about the lockers... who was the dope that put their locker between N/H? There were like 2 lockers between theirs. I know, random, sorry!

Tim Time- I am going to get backlash for this... but I am so sick of DIM! He gets some funny lines, but he is just starting to bug me. It could have just been last night... we'll see. I did like that he made his own invitation! I would give props here to Felix for leaving him out, but Denise1 and I made a deal that I would disown my love of Felix if she promised to ship Luke and Lorelai 100%. So, in the spirit of that deal, I will just say *hee hee hee* quietly.

Peyton and Haley- I liked this pairing for the show, but what's up with Haley being the first to volunteer to play and then not doing a single dare?!?! (BTW: The cheating comment was a little off for her, but I forgive it, this time.) Peyton in the confessional was the BEST acting I have seen from Hilarie. Way to pull it out! I teared up!

Keith and what's her face- Yep, I'm still holding a grudge about her getting the names wrong oh so long ago, but at least she is with Keith and we all know that I don't like him! LOL. Sorry.

No Dan/Deb- So the episode wasn't a total loss.

Previews: I missed them and didn't bother to go back and look. I'm sure Denise1 will get it all.

(PS. I am adding this because my boss just walked up and she is a HUGE CMM fan, anyway she said that she is totally getting into N/H and they really seem solid. She was disappointed there was not more of them last night. SHOCKER. I think she might be a closet cospiracy theorist! She didn't like the episode either. She said this year is not even comparing to last year... She also pointed out the little wink Haley gave Nathan at the end when he went to play PS2 with Tim. She thought it was too real!)

Note to Mark Schwahn: I still love OTH and even enjoy these episodes. I'm trying to be democratic, but even I *gasp* yes, I, have to have an episode each year that I didn't LOVE. But this in no way belittles my complete devotion to you and the tattoo I am still considering. LOL

Hey peeps!

So ep 2.05 "I Will Dare" was quite, um, how do I call it, hmm, controversial? I sat down to watch it with a bowl of popcorn and my favorite ice cold Gatorade in hand. From the "Previously on OTH" they went straight to the episode, and I thought "Oh great, just like for the boy toy auction! This will be good!" I saw my favorite couple walking around school holding hands and had the biggest grin on my face. It all looked so promising. But you know what they say, "Hindsight is 20/20."

While there was so much I loved, (i.e. Mouth's rendition of Baby Got Back) I think what soured me instantly was the sacrilegious use of NH first kiss song Dare you to move by Switchfoot, in that Lucass/Anna scene. I was first in shock and then I was seething. Earlier this year, Max & Liz's (Roswell) first kiss song We Haven't Turned Around by Gomez was wiped out of the S1 DVD set, and this brought that bitter sense of betrayal again. Funny how attached one can get to a specific song and the meaning it holds.

So I think that was my main problem with Ep. 205 that coupled with my utter disappointment with last week's 204 and man! Was I upset. Upon the end of the episode I ran to my puter and if it wasn't for the NH peeps I wouldn't have been able to laugh it off. I like differences of opinion though; it makes the world more interesting. So now some of the standout moments of last night:

• NH holding hands: How coupley of them. I loved it. It's the little things that make me happy.
• Haley being the first to agree to the dare: How progressive of her. I liked it! Of course Nathan followed her lead.
• Jealous Nathan: How sexy! And I usually hate jealous guys but it just looks so good on him! I am glad that sentiment of his wasn't just dropped. His little dirty glance at Felix when he went past Haley was priceless. I can see some great storylines coming from this in future eps.
• Lucass' dare: Um, way to fill out those leather pants Sparky! I was expecting Jazz fingers at any moment. And that bra! OMG Schwahn, you delivered on your promise, too good!
  
• The 3 Stooges: the batting cages, the zoo, and the karaoke club, PRICELESS! Sir Mix-A-Lot must've been proud! When Mouth started shaking his bootay I was on the floor laughing and also screaming: "My eyes, my eyes!!!" LOL
  
• Brooke/Felix: I like these two together. They have met their match, and even if this is not a cosmic pairing of the forever kind, it still amuses me. Felix as a single character not so much, but him with Brooke and messing with the other girls and thus messing with the guys' minds has plenty of potential!
  
• Nathan/Tim: I loved these two. I was shocked at Nathan's outburst but I loved how he apologized and made time for Tim at the end. My best friend got married almost 2 yrs ago and things are not exactly the same, but we make "best friend time." Oh, and the GS uniforms and Nathan's little speech had me rolling! Hey lady, why'd you shut the door?! LOL Also, side note: I was wondering if Brett really got waxed. (Method acting you know? LOL)
  
• Peyton/Haley: I loved their bonding. Lame dares though, and actually Haley didn't do any of them. I think hers was playing "Where in the world is Haley James Scott?" cause Carmen Sandiego was already found, but Haley was not in last night's ep.
  
• Peyton crying: I felt for her. Her comments this season are very thought provoking. "Most days I fall short of who she wanted me to be." That made me cry. I wanted to give her a hug and just give her a slap in the head for the line of coke she did.
  
• Lucass: Yeah, I mean that extra "S" in his name now. How quickly his resolve to change faded. What happened to no relationships dude? Have you learned nothing? This irks me cause it makes him look so flighty and I am really wanting to like him.
  
• Anna: Jury's still out. Like with Felix, I've vowed to give her a 2nd chance. Her chances are not looking good though.
  
• Karen/Andy: He's hot and I like him, but I had a problem with Karen's Little House on the Prairie-esque outfit. C'mon! I get that she has to look young but not fashion emergency-like. Why does Deb get the best clothes only?
  
• Keith/Jules: I like that he has a new love interest, cause he deserves it, but Maria Menunos wasn't too convincing. As with Anna, she will get a 2nd chance.
  
• Dan/Deb/Whitey: No, this is not an inquiry to a gruesome love triangle, it's my very pressing question: WHERE THE HECK ARE THEY? Oh I know, playing the Carmen Sandiego game with Haley. LOL
  
  OK, I did this from memory, and I am probably forgetting some good and bad stuff, but my guilt for last week's missing commentary prodded me to get this out today. I did ask D3 to post a mini rant yesterday afternoon, to explain my absence. If anyone would care to, you can check the archives.
  
  Preview: What no NH? Oh wait, they are hidden in the Yard Sale shopping! If this trend keeps up instead of being called The Romantics at FF, we're gonna have to change our name to The Wallpapers, cause NH are lately becoming only background. Oh well.
